Arkema - Integrating an Enterprise PIM

Centralize product data, govern contributions, and accelerate omnichannel publishing

Arkema uses a PIM as a single source of truth for product data, making it easy to publish on websites and reuse across channels, brochures, mobile apps, and more.

Objectives

Arkema needed to roll out an enterprise PIM in a complex organization while addressing three major challenges: operational efficiency, catalog quality control, and commercial visibility

  • Operational efficiency: enable technical, marketing, and sales teams to enrich product data without conflicts or mistakes, by putting the right governance and permissions in place.
  • Catalog quality: raise and protect product-page quality through Quality Score (A–E) and completeness rules, ensuring data is strong enough to be trusted downstream.
  • Commercial visibility: gain clear, measurable oversight what’s sold, what’s actually published, and which products have a real TDS so teams can manage product readiness and go-to-market execution.

A cross-cutting goal was to speed up product information delivery, including automated generation of key deliverables like Technical Data Sheets while keeping publishing to Jahia controlled and reliable.

The PIM helped us centralize data, a single source of truth we can publish on our websites and reuse across brochures, mobile apps, and more.

Solutions

  1. Governed contribution at scale (permissions by profile)

Because technical, sales, and marketing teams all enrich the PIM, Arkema put permissions in place by department, region, or profile to prevent conflicts and reduce errors (for example, marketing teams can’t edit technical fields).

  2. Automated Technical Data Sheets (TDS)

Arkema mapped product data into a document template to automatically generate a downloadable TDS PDF. When product data changes, the system regenerates the TDS within 30 minutes, ensuring customers always access the latest version.

  3. Built-in quality controls (Quality Score + publish gates)

Akeneo’s Quality Score (A–E) provides a clear signal on data enrichment. On top of that, Arkema enforces 100% completeness for required attributes—if something is missing, the product can’t be published to Jahia, protecting website quality by design.

  4. “On-the-fly” integration into Jahia (EDP)

To make PIM data available in Jahia without multiplying physical copies, Arkema relies on Jahia’s External Data Provider (EDP), which syncs external data “on the fly” and reduces the long-term maintenance burden
