Struggling to install Jahia onto remote hosted Linux box using headless install

by  davout »  2012/11/01 07:36

I'm struggling with your command line install jar...  the slightest mistake and i have to restart the whole process.

Is there a way I create a properties file that holds all the data and have the installer point at the properties file?   If so, where would  I find some docs to explain this?

Each time I run the command line install, after I enter the MySQL related parameters I get an error...

"Validation failed,  please verify your input. Database driver  [com.mysql.jdbc.Driver]"

    Hello Ian,

the issue with MySQL is most probably caused by the low max_allowed_packet value in your MySQL configuration. Jahia requires at least 100 megabytes (see MySQL tips for Jahia for details).

And there is a possibility to "record" and "replay" an installation using so called auto-install file.

You could for example run the UI installer on your local machine and at the almost last screen you will have a possibility to save the install into an XML file:

The generated XML file is quite human-readable so you can adjust manually the target installation path etc.

With this file you can run in a console (headless) mode the same installation on a remote Linux machine as follows:

    java -jar Enterprise-Jahia_xCM_v6.6.1.0_r43343.2144.jar auto-install.xml

    Kind regards

    Sergiy
