Hi,

This does not surprise me. The 6.5 community edition will not support Oracle. The support of Oracle is only provided with the Enterprise Edition. I know that Jahia will release soon much more details about the 6.5 CE capabilities and roadmap.

    very very big Dissapointment !!!

I looked forward new release but your comment is very failure for me.

why ? I suppose you or your team think that Enterprise institution use oracle .I think it is prejudice.

if you want to become prevalent jahia , jahia support common relational database(oracle,mysql,postgresql...)

other hand we wait for a long time jahia 6.5 but you postpone ?

    I am crossed ,
I had very imagination with jahia for our corparation and intranet.

    Hi erdem_ustum,

I wrote that 1) the 6.5 CE (community edition) will not support Oracle and 2) the product is not ready yet despite all the Jahia team's efforts. Nobody wrote the 6.5 EE (Enterprise Edition) will not support Oracle (thanks God!). The 6.5 CE will support MySQL & PostgreSQL, the 6.5 EE will support MySQL & PostgreSQL + Oracle + MS SQLServer.

Please let me know if something remain unclear of course !

Thanks and apologies if my former posts confused you :)

    thanks for replies.

    I could not understand.

1.there are one link in main web page(http://www.jahia.org/cms/home/Jahiapedia/How_to_use_Jahia/page247.html#p977,othershttp://www.jahia.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=335&sid=c5af6af5bc16d4515ee7e037b7839a29)

as far as i understand above these pages CE and EE version have all features but CE does not

officially supported by Jahia Enterprise Support solutions.

so according your descriptions at above the link,CE and EE have all features.

if anyone want to install your product which is CE version and want to support, you don't any answer or support,he or she search forums or documents.

other hand you and your team are making an effort, do you want to generalize jahia product?.

if you want to jahia's features step forward the others cms or portal,

jahia has important features which has not got the others .

    I wrote some features http://www.jahia.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=383&sid=29e0c9af85fd810ead212e712d0de0bc&sid=c5af6af5bc16d4515ee7e037b7839a29#p1250

    Note:jahia previous version(CE 6.1) has support oracle .

My aim is not to judge.I liked it as a good cms and portal for intranet and internet.I have been install it for my corporation' s intranet pages which oracle and weblogic and try to integrate others applications.

I have already some problems(6.1 CE) which I wrote at forums.

More and more people/developer use Jahia, it increasingly better to best.

    Hi erdem_ustum,

OK, thanks for clarifying your issues. Let me try to explain you:

    1. Into the 6.0, the CE is embedding every feature but the product was not enjoying the bug fixes and patches from the EE. This can be a real bottleneck to the community's increase. Into the 6.5, the CE will be upgraded regularly with the same bug fixes and patches than the EE. And there were other issues which I could describe later if required and which have been somewhat slowing down the adoption of the CE. We made an assessment of them and decided to let the 6.5 CE be a better match for the community accordingly.

    2. The 6.5 CE is really aiming at increasing the community's size and activity. We also know we cannot put everything into it and let the EE having some specific advantages which are requiring a non free yearly subscription. So the idea is to put every feature available into the CE, but those required for projects which can afford some significant budget. Of course nothing is so black amp white but that's really the idea. For that reason, supporting Oracle does not makes sense into the CE as many projects can run well with other (free of charge) DB and if you need Oracle, we assume you can also afford paying a Jahia's subscription with the EE. That's also very true with Weblogic. If your project has a really limited budget, you can run it with Tomcat and if you need Weblogic, we assume you can also contribute to Jahia's development through a subscription.

Frankly, I believe the 6.5 CE will really be a great product for projects with limited budget and it will also be easy to improve it for the benefits of the community, much a better one than the 6.0 CE.

Please let me know your feelings, we really want and need to get the commitment of the majority of the community and are very keen explaining and improving our community policy accordingly.
