Simple chat module implementation

by  robertito »  2011/06/07 18:07

Hi to all, Since we have to decide between Jahia 6.5 and other solution for our project, I developed a very simple chat module that displays messages and stores them into files in the repository per day. The chat messages can later be searched. The purpose of the development of this module is to get familiarized with module development and Jahia development in general. Besides, I'm new to Jahia and couldn't find a Jahia chat module, and we will probably need one for the project. It is in a very early stage, correct exception handling and refactoring are needed, just to name only a few things.

  ChatDispatcherServlet
  org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet

    contextConfigLocation
    WEB-INF/etc/spring/servlet-applicationcontext-chat.xml

    publishEvents
    false

  ChatDispatcherServlet
  /chat/*

To use it, the web.xml has to be modified to include:

    [code:tqdxmd0b]
    lt;servlet

    Hello Robertino,

Could you tell us what are all the blocker points ? Did you succeed to "bubble up" all the exceptions and display them to the users ? Are you using JQuery/rest or java to create your chat module ?
