Publishing rights without editing rights?

by  rvt »  2011/11/07 19:34

Hello!

Is it possible for a contributor role to give this role publishing rights without edit rights?

Essentially for some pages we want a group of users to manage there content and publish it, without giving them the power of edit or editor in chief. These users just want to have a simple interface also, abd contributor interface is perfect for them.

    Hi,

You can give publish permission to your contributor role in the administration / manage roles panel, or create a new role with publish permission.

    Hey TOmas,

the issue is that in the documentation I read about the roles in administration, but it seems to be not available in Jahia 6.5 (r39070), so I was wondering if they removed it in favor of a other method, or that my version of Jahia isn't correct.

    Hi Ries,

I am not sure that i understand your question.

If you don't see the "Role Management" feature it is because this feature is only provided in the enterprise stack.

If you are using an enterprise stack, here is the documentation related to the "Role Management" feature.

    You understood my question well!

Ok, we are using the CE edition...

THen I know what's going on, and not a fault in my installation.

Is there a page where we can see the difference between CE and EE?

    Hello Ries,

Yes there is, it is here : http://www.jahia.com/cms/home/product/buy-it/what-are-you-getting.html

As for the roles management interface, we are constantly collecting feedback about which features to include where :) But you may also insert roles and permissions using import files, even from a module.

You can see examples of this in the Blog module here : https://github.com/Jahia/JahiApp-Blog/tree/master/src/main/import

The format is quite straightforward. The part that is in the EE is a GUI we built on top of this data to be able to customize the permissions and roles.

    Regards,

      Serge Huber.
