Displaying flash files

by  spaeth »  2011/11/10 22:03

Hi,

I have been trying to display flash files on my page. Actually most other video file formats would work for me too, but not using YouTube. I've tried Flash Animation and Video from Content:Multimedia and selected an flv file previously uploaded. In preview, only a blank is displayed, and when I right-click, I see a context menu with two entries: "Movie not loaded..." and "About Adobe Flash Player 11.0.1.152...". What am I missing?

Oliver,

can you describe a bit better what component you are using to try to add the youtube content, and how you exactly add the youtube content?

    Hello Ries,

I can display YouTube files using the streaming video component. I noticed that this is how the demo videos are done on the Jahia site. But I need to display a local .flv file, rather than linking to YT.

In order to do this you might want to build your own module based on our videostreaming example you can find here :

    https://github.com/Jahia/modules-set/tree/master/videostreaming

You simply make a new definitions and then in the view add the HTML code to display an flv file.

    Hello Oliver,

here are the steps for how to display a internal FLV video in Jahia (meaning you have uploaded a FLV file into Document Manager).

I am using Jahia 6.5.1.1 (but the functionality has not changed compared to 6.5.1.0).

    1) In Edit Mode you click in the area on "Any content" button

    2) Type "video", select the "Video" component and click on OK

    3) This open the created content engine, where - by clickon on the arrow icon - you will have to select your file from the document repository

    4) Select your file in the picker and click on "Save"

    5) You are back to the create content engine. Finish the component creation by clicking on "Save" optionally adjusting the height and width for the video

    6) The component is now created

    7) You can switch to preview mode and play your video

If you are not able to play it, than the issue is most probably with the browser/flash player settings (security level?) on your side.

Let me know, please, which steps cause problems on your side and we can try narrowing the problem down together.

    Kind regards

    Sergiy
