Cache problem

by  tyurk »  2011/08/03 19:05

Hello,

I have a website running with Jahia 6.5 (the "release" build) and seem to have a cache-related issue cropping up at random intervals.  Everything works fine for a while but at some point, certain pages start coming up blank (refresh in browser changes nothing, so this is not a browser cache problem).  When that happens, flushing the caches (Jahia admin, edit mode, Cache>Flush all caches) fixes the problem for the foreseeable future.  I have tried to find a related ticken in JIRA but to no avail.  Also, no posts in this forum.  Any ideas?

Denis

    Hello Denis,

This is a known issue. We already fixed it and the fix will be available in JAHIA 6.5 SP1. For now, my advice would be to regularly flush your caches. This is what we do on www.jahia.com.

    Regards,

    Fabrice

Dennis, this is my little cache clean script I run from cron at a 5 minute interval.

    #!/bin/bash
    cd /opt
    curl -c /tmp/cookies.txt "http://localhost:8080/cms/login"
    curl -d "doLogin=true&username=root&password=<your password>" -c /tmp/cookies.txt -b /tmp/cookies.txt "http://localhost:8080/cms/login"
    curl -d "flushOutputCaches=true" -c /tmp/cookies.txt -b /tmp/cookies.txt "http://localhost:8080/administration/?do=status&sub=display"
    curl -d "flushOutputCaches=true" -c /tmp/cookies.txt -b /tmp/cookies.txt "http://localhost:8080/administration/?do=status&sub=process"
    rm /tmp/cookies.txt

I never seen any blank pages, but I do see at random content popping up on other areas where it shouldn't. When flushing the cache it fixes it, this particular issue has been reporting already to jira.

    Ries,

Thanks for this.  I was just going to ask if someone knew of a way to clear the caches from a script.  I am now running a customized version of your script using launchd (Mac OS X server) with success.

    Cheers,

    Denis

    Hi Fabrice

We have recently upgraded to the 6.5 SP1 EE and we still seem to have this problem. At random intervals the jahia server becomes extremely slow and only serves blank pages. This is, as you writem fixed by flushing the cache.

But it should be fixed in 6.5 sp1 , so is there any confiugration we should be aware of, to make this error go away.

    Regards

    Søren

    Any news on this?

    by  madsbuus »  2011/11/09 14:25

This problem persists!?  On my installation the returned pages is not completely blank: they contain the header and footer, but the area 'contentarea' in the middle is completely empty. Every request for such a page will returned the blank content page until the HTML output cache is flushed.

    It happens at random intervals...

For flushing I can recommend to hit the flush html output cache in the /tools part of the site instead of through administration. That is much easier, and doesn't require cookies etc.

    Sorel,

since you hijacked this thread, may be you can explain a bit more in detail where you see it, with what modules or just with standard content.

I haven't seen it anymore since I updated to 6.6 and have been running a couple of sites with it without issues.
