Wanted tutorial on using event handlers in jahia 6

by  xvik »  2011/06/07 19:59

Hello,

Do you have some tutorial on using eventlisteners in jahia 6.
I see only list of possible events in documentation and jahiapedia.

You have introduced drools integration in jahia 6. Is it drop in replacement for jahia 5 event listeners? Could drools rules be used with jahia 5 style event handlers?

If there is some published information about event listeners (drools or old style) in jahia 6, please guide me there.

Hello,

Drools has been integrated in Jahia 6 and allows to manage events in a more easy way than with Jahia 5. There are some examples of rules in /etc/repository/rules , and drools documentation can be found here : http://www.jboss.org/drools/documentation.html .

However, the old event listener mechanism is still available and can be used - if rules are not flexible enough for what you want to achieve, you can still code a event listener class, as in Jahia 5. Event listener developped for Jahia 5 should still work with Jahia 6.

You can also find some architecture information here : http://www.jahia.org/cms/home/Jahiapedi ... rview#p296

Hello,

Thank you for information. Indeed, architecture description is very useful.

But, digging into sample rules I have noticed that Jahia fires more events than specified in documentation. It will be good to have complete list of available events.

Also, I'm not sure what services Jahia provides into rules file. It will be good to have a list of provided services, or at least the rule to understand which services could be provided and which are not.

I can't find any information about possibility of intercepting WebDav events. It may be helpful, e.g. to track downloaded files and show user downloads history. Is it possible to catch this kind of events in the eventiltener or drools file?
