Struggling with simple module : why does it appears in nonDroppableComponents ?

by  leoflandin »  2013/02/06 15:15

Hy,

I'm new to Jahia and I'm following the Quick Start Video.

I create a simple module with a component 'dog'.

There is my definitions.cnd :

<qnt = 'http://www.heliorama.com/jahia/nt/1.0'>
<qmix = 'http://www.heliorama.com/jahia/mix/1.0'>

[qnt:dog] > jnt:content, jmix:structuredContent
- dogName (string)
I build and deploy (maven clean install jahia:deploy goals) which seems nice : I have "Start deploying new module package 'Dog'".
Then I deployed the module using the Studio (drop down on Module, then Dog then, Menu Deploy)

Why in Edition Mode the component is under "nonDroppableComponent" ? It should be in "structuredContent".

BTW : In the Quick Start Video, there is not such step as deploy the module with the Studio, the component apears in Edition Mode directly after the build, do you know why ? I struggle to find that !

Best regards,

-Leo

Leo,

the name space thing always has confused me, but from what I am seeing is that you are missing the jnt and jmix declarations.

So what you did is correctly and I think you only need to add:

<jnt = 'http://www.jahia.org/jahia/nt/1.0'>
<jmix = 'http://www.jahia.org/jahia/mix/1.0'>

To ensure the jnt and jmix namespaces are also known, thsi should place your component under structuredContent rather then non droppable.

    Thanks a lot, it make sense, even though I'm quite sur it was not the case in the Quick Start Video...

    Do you have a clue why I need the deploy the module with the Studio after the mvn jahia:deploy goal ?

    Maybe it's because I don't have the Jahia's "configure" profile in maven : I did not understand what I am suppose to do we using embedded Derby.

    Thx,

    -Leo

    Leo,

    the deploy frm Studio only need to happen once foe the first time you deploy the module to your website. After that (in Jahia's development mode) it will be deployed directly and you don't have to go into Studio to re-deploy.

    I have developed with Derby myself and for me this works fine.
