Problem with Tomcat server starting with JAVA_HOME variable

by  kannak »  2014/01/11 02:33

Hi,

I have installed jdk 6 (jdk-6u45-windows-x64.exe) in my personal laptop and trying to install Jahia 30 day trial(enterprise distribution one). In the last step of installation, while starting the TOMCAT server I am facing the below error message.

The JAVA_HOME environment variable is not defined correctly
This environment variable is needed to run this program
NB: JAVA_HOME should point to a JDK not a JRE

When I debugged further in tomcat logs, I found that TOMCAT is looking for JDK/JRE in the path -  program files (X86) but my jdk is available in program files. Not sure what to do here.

Do you want me install jdk 6 32 bit also my system?
or Is there anyway to set this property to point it correctly?

FYI.... I have set the JAVA_HOME variable to "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_45\bin".

Could anyone please help me in resolving this issue.

    Hi,

your JAVA_HOME should be set to: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_45   (without the \bin).

Does that help resolving your problem?

    Regards,
    Benjamin

Yes, after changing the JAVA_HOME to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_45, I am able to install and launch the JAHIA successfully.

Thank you Benjamin for your help.

    Hello,

Can you provide more information about your environment (OS, jdk used) and also which version of Jahia/Digital Factory have you tried to install?

    Regards,

    Francois
