Issues in accessing Jahia Tool Manager (Ver 6.6.0.0)

by  namitgupta »  2012/10/13 14:48

Hello All,

I have just started working on Jahia. I am currently in the phase of getting familiar with the OOB features of Jahia and the ways to extend them. I wanted to explore the admin features provided by Jahia using the "Jahia Tool Manager". I tried accessing the utility using the following URL:

I entered the "root" user credentials which unfortunately didn't work. Subsequqntly, i went throught the documentation and found that "jahia.properties" contains the credentials required for accessing the tool manager. I was able to locate the username/password in the jahia.properties file. I manually reset the password by entering a new encoded password in the file.

However, I am still not able to access the tools manager.

Can anyone share some pointers on this issue?

Regards,

Namit Gupta

    Jahia /tools page password

    by  sashok »  2013/07/29 10:51

    Hello,

I know it has been a while, but here is some info regarding this problem:

    1. Jahia properties files is located in <JAHIA 6.6 INSTALL>\tomcat\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\etc\config\jahia.properties

    2. Jahia uses SHA-1 encryption for the password

    3. Default username and pass are jahia jahia

    useful link:

    http://www.md5decrypter.co.uk/sha1-decrypt.aspx

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Alexander KIRILOV

All this is correct for Jahia 6.6

Just for information, the default password for the '/tools' change with Jahia 7 (my current version = 7.0.0.4):

    Jahia properties contains:
    ######################################################################
    ### Jahia Tool Manager ###############################################
    ######################################################################
    #jahiaToolManagerUsername                               = jahia
    #jahiaToolManagerPassword                               = W6ph5Mm5Pz8GgiULbPgzG37mj9g=

So the default encrypted (still SHA-1) password is: W6ph5Mm5Pz8GgiULbPgzG37mj9g=

And following this page : http://mx4j.sourceforge.net/docs/api/mx4j/tools/remote/PasswordAuthenticator.html

    We find that:

For example, the obfuscated version of the password "password" is "OBF(MD5):X03MO1qnZdYdgyfeuILPmQ==" or "OBF(SHA-1):W6ph5Mm5Pz8GgiULbPgzG37mj9g=".

So "W6ph5Mm5Pz8GgiULbPgzG37mj9g=" is equivalent to the "password" password ;-)

    Regards,

    Cédric Fourneau.

    Hello Sam,

the defaul password of the Jahia Tools User (jahia) is "password".

If you still cannot access the tools, modify the value of the jahiaToolManagerPassword entry in your jahia.properties to be:

    jahiaToolManagerPassword                               = p:iEVqmWQtkFaTg85J/pSz6xdDKSAuMwaO5tGdcRKqMWgv7ReAsDYUey5Sxbzu6lbrif9pWdq0YVJoevG2jOAKiA==$br7IaFcfthbUxjOeHBuJE8AxKTuMJg0JPFcumkOuXP8=

Restart your DX and access the /tools using "password".

You could use the "Password encryption" tool (http://localhost:8080/modules/tools/pwdEncrypt.jsp) to generate the encrypted password from a plain text one.

    Kind regards

    Sergiy
