Handle the tomcat embedded in Jahia inside Eclipse

by  gkuhmel »  2012/03/29 10:13

Hi there,

Is there a way to configure the eclipse "Servers" in order to handle the Jahia server inside eclipse (for start/stop, see the log in the console etc).

I tried to configure this by using the "Use Tomcat Installation (take control of Tomcat installation" option of the Tomcat 6 server i've defined in eclipse

The server then starts but a great number of exceptions occurs and the web app is unavailable.

Any advice ?

thanks.

    Hello,

I have no experience yet with starting Tomcat within Eclipse.

What I do is to start Tomcat externally with specifying the JPDA parameters (dt_socket and a port) and configure in Eclipse a "Remote Java Application". Whenever I then want to debug Java code or JSPs, I connect to the remote Tomcat instance and debug that. For simple changes also hotdeploy works for me, when I change the code while debugging. I can't however see the log in the console with that configuration.

    Regards,
    Benjamin
