Getting case sensitive search results

by  abhinitb »  2013/04/20 04:46

For our site, we have extended the out of the box search functionality by Jahia, but we are getting different results for the same word entered in different cases.

For example if we enter 'legacy' we get 4 results, if we enter 'Legacy', we get 5, and on entering 'LEGACY' we get, say, 8 results.

Ideally, it should be giving same results for the same word, entered in any case.

Can anyone provide any pointers on this.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Hello Abhinit,

it depends on the search query you use. Normally when doing fulltext queries (in XPATH: jcr:contains) the query is case insensitive, but e.g. querying for a tag is case sensitive, as we look up the tag without query directly from the repository. Using jcr:like on the nodename (e.g. filename) is also case sensitive.

Can you send more details or already see yourself from the additional results with "Legacy" and "LEGACY" why they are there and not there with "legacy" ?
