backup digital asset separately

by  surajz »  2011/06/07 20:41

How do I backup digital assets (pdfs, images uploaded from document manager) separately from user content?
I did not see that option in Export website and in auto distant export feature. Is there an existing functionality that extracts it from jcr repository.

Is there a way to copy individual pages (with user content) to another instance of Jahia (instead of all the published diff)?

Thanks.

    Hi Suraj,

I'm not sure to understand what you mean by "backup". The documents you upload into the filemanager are either stored in the DB or on the file system, depending the configuration you have chosen. If it is stored on the file system, then you can backup the directory specified by the property slideContentDiskPath in jahia.properties. A full backup would have to also include data from the DB.

About individual pages: yes, you can export a page and then import it in a site on a new Jahia instance. For that, go to "page properties" of your page and then click on "Tools". You should see the option "Export". Don't forget that the new page must use the same template than the page you export from.

Does it fully answer to your questions ?

    Regards,
    Fabrice.

    Hi Fabrice,

I understand how to import / export individual page now, thanks.

However, I quite don't understand how to backup virtual website without digital asset (i.e. I want to backup everything from db except the documents uploaded by document manager). I am using db, so I was thinking about doing a db dump of all the tables except those tables used to store documents. Looking at db table names I was not sure if documents are store separately from user added content.

    thanks,

    Surajz

    Hello Surajz,

could you, please, provide the main purpose of your "partial" backup?
Is it just because you do not have enough resources to make the full backup or you are trying to migrate the content (and only the content) from one Jahia instance into another one?

    Kind regards
    Sergiy
