Where are sources and appserver tomcat that come with download of SDK 6.5 ?

by  lirone »  2011/09/27 09:40

In download page of last version of jahia, it's said that it includes sources :

We packaged within one complete archive everything required (including required libraries and source code)

The documentation says that source are in tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF but there is no apache-tomcat folder, so I don't know where the deploy task will have to put files.

The downloaded zip only contains these folders and files : apache-maven-2.2.1, code-example, docs, helloworld, tlddocs, archetype-catalog.xml, Jahia_xCM_v6.5.0_r38205.jar, README, SDK_jahia-6.5-FINAL-repository.zip, settings.xml.

Do you know how to get an ready to work tomcat appserver with java & jsp source ?

Thank you in advance for your response.

    Hello Lirone,

you're right, apparently the sources are missing from the SDK package. We have forwarded this information to the development team, thank you for reporting the issue.

You can checkout the sources from our Subversion repository: http://www.jahia.com/cms/home/download/source-code.html

    Regards,
    Guillaume

Thank you very much for the link for the sources, could you tell me how I can compile and deploy jahia from source to an application server or whether there is a page that describes this ?

    Hi Lirone,

actually I was wrong, all the sources are in the Maven repository packaged with the SDK (SDK_jahia-6.5-FINAL-repository.zip). Thus you can compile, install and deploy your Jahia using Maven. The README file included in the SDK summarizes all the required steps to execute. Let us know if you need any further information.

    Regards

    Guillaume

    Ok thank you very much.

I followed the README carefully, but it sounds that the README supposes that we already have a running jahia deployed on a tomcat, for example it is written :

To verify that your module is deployed, you should have a message in Jahia's console that says :

    2010-12-08 15:20:28,274: INFO  [TemplatePackageRegistry] - Registered helloworld

And in the SDK, there is no ready to run server, and the README file don't explain how I could make or have a runtime environnement.

    Hi Lirone,

yes, the SDK assumes that you already have installed Jahia and that you can deploy your work in the embedded Tomcat. I think you could download the Jahia community edition and install it. Then, just configure your Maven profile, so you will be able to deploy your changes to this install. I think you can find everything you need to set up your development environment in this part of the documentation: http://www.jahia.com/cms/home/community/documentation/templating-and-integration-guide/part-6-setting-up-an-integration.html

Let me know if you meet further issues.

    Regards

    Guillaume
