sample-bootstrap-templates corruption

by  helenv »  2014/06/04 09:50

When in edit mode I get the following error

no render set for node : bootstrap-rich-text

for types : [nt:base, jmix:referencesInField]

How do I

a) reinstall the sample bootstrap template

b) create my own template set

b) change the template set used by my site to my template set

I am a newbie so please assume I know nothing ....

I had to resort to re-installing the SDK - drastic but I now have a clean slate and am starting from scratch.  If there is a workaround I would still like to know it.

Hello Helen,

that's really strange, how did you install Jahia ? Could you try to summarize what you did before getting this error (did you create a site, used this templates set with or without modifying it etc.)

Regards,

Guillaume

I downloaded the SDK from your website and ran the zip file.

the original error occurred after I had compiled the site and created a JAR file.

I am still learning the basics,  I was shown how to create a page template in the sample template set so that is what I have been doing.  I create a page template in studio, then go to edit mode, create new page using the new template I have just created, then put content into the new page and that is when I had the error.  It has not recurred since re-installing.  I have not tried to re-compile in case this causes the same error.

    Hello Helen,

if you're just discovering Jahia, maybe you should just download and install the Jahia Digitial factory rather than the SDK: http://www.jahia.com/products/digital-factory/try-and-download

Jahia DF is a standalone application that allows you to create website without deploying them to another server, as it comes by default with an embedded Tomcat 7 server.

    Regards,

    Guillaume

I need the SDK so I can create new templates.  Do you have a step by step guide to installing DF on a Linux server with Tomcat installed? Do I work in studio and edit mode on the server directly? Do my editors and I access the same version on the server? Does the workflow only allow edit and live versions? I would prefer dev (for me to create new templates) / test (for my editors to input content) / live but I don't want to extend the workflow module as a beginner.

p.s. I think the corruption is related to using the shell script to start the server on my windows PC and not the batch file.

    Hi Helen,

you can read this thread about Jahia 6.5 for installing on an existing Tomcat: http://www.jahia.com/fr/home/community/forum/jahia-user/jahia-install-forum/installing-jahia-65-beta-on-exis.html

It's pretty much the same. You don't need the SDK to create templates set, the SDK provides an all-in-one solution (Maven, Maven repository, Jahia DF, Jahia sources) to start developing your own module. You can create a templates set directly from the Studio.

Please read the Quickstart guide to get familiar with Jahia Digital Factory: http://www.jahia.com/documentation-and-downloads/editors-documentation

Yes Jahia works with 2 workspaces, default (edit) and live. Your dev environment for new templates would be a local installation on your own computer, where you would generate templates set and deploy them on your production instance.

How are you going to use Jahia, and how many users? The Jahia team can help you to build your project and provide some trainings. Do not hesitate to contact us.

    Regards,

    Guillaume
