On line data entry

by  rinolaragione »  2011/06/07 18:35

Hi everybody

I need to create a small web application that uses a portal to reach users over the intranet.
Portal should do standard user authentication and page management.
Now I need a portlet, or a set of tools to create something similar to a MS access application.

I've searched the net and found out that the only two system that fit my needs are:

1 - http://wiki.marvelit.com/index.php?titl ... rt_Portlet
2 - http://www.datawarestudio.com

Has somebody ever tried them?
Or, otherwise, does somebody has different solutions (it must be alternatives that requires only few skills in sql)?

Thank's in advance

    Hello,

I am not familiar with the tools you described, but anything that will generate a proper JSR 168-compliant portlet application should be fine as long as it doesn't generate things too exotic :)

Some frameworks such as object-relational mapping tools (Hibernate, JPA), also help you minimize the work involved in developer portlets that access database content, and benefit from caching infrastructures that would make content retrieval very efficient.

    Best regards,
    Serge Huber.

    Thank you for your answer.
Your solutions involve skilled java/jsp programmers, to develo a portlet.
As far as I can see, Marvel It Editable Reports and DatawareStudio Quick Application Suite are out of the box portlets that needs only to be deployed and /1 to perform their tasks.
In any case, I'm trying to test them. The first one comes in bundle with jetspeed and I don't know if I can deploy it on a different portal.
The second one has a free personal version I've asked to obtain.
If somebody is interested, I con then post my impressions
