mvn jahia:deploy destroys tomcat/webapps/ROOT

by  hwellmann »  2012/11/27 19:41

Trying to use mvn jahia:deploy on a local checkout of Jahia trunk, I've just corrupted my Tomcat installation, since the plugin copies Jahia to webapps/ROOT.

This is dangerous and not clearly documented, neither in the Integrator Guide, nor in https://www.jahia.com/community/documentation/jahiapedia/development/prerequisites.html#Plugin, where the jahia.deploy.war.dirName property is not mentioned at all.

Please add a prominent warning and/or change the default to webapps/jahia to prevent people from accidentally overwriting their existing ROOT application.

Best regards,

Harald

Hello Harald,

root context is the default one for Jahia Web application in development phase and production, unless you explicitly change it during the installation wizzard of, in case you are deploying Jahia into an existing application server or compiling from source.

The corresponding Maven settings are listed in an example from our page, which you mention.

Please let us know if you need any advanced support or guidance in starting developing your projects with Jahia.

We will be more than pleased to assist you and answer any questions.

Kind regards

Sergiy
