Import does not import document

by  mabouchacra »  2011/06/07 18:43

Hi there!

I've got a really annoying issue with the import functionnality. When I try to import a whole website, everything is imported except for the documents. I can see them in the site but their size is 0kb.

I've checked in the export zip, all the documents are in it and they are not empty, so the problem seems to occurs while importing.

Also the import action takes approximatively 4hours to import everything (except the documents) which seems a bit long for /1 600Mo.

Do we have to do something particular before importing a whole website to get the documents imported?
By the way, i don't know if it is linked but my documents are saved in the database.

Cheers,
Marc.

    Normally, not.
Are you importing the complete virtual site export into a new Jahia instance? Is it configured the same way? Which DBMS are you using (perhaps there a restrictions on the size of uploaded blob, like in case of MySQL)?

    Kind regards
    Sergiy

    Hi!

Yes I'm importing a complete site into a new Jahia instance. Both instace are configured the same way, they are both using Oracle 11g.

I've tried to import only the document by removing everything from the export zip file except for the repository.xml and the content folder. I don't know if it should work like that but it has resulted in a OutOfMemoryError. Sadly we can't increase the permsize more than 192 (at least on Windows). I'm working on windows 2003 x64 with 4CPUs and 4Gb of RAM, so I hope the problem does not come from the computer!

    Cheers,
    Marc

    Hello Marc,

could you elaborate it a bit and provide more details or try several scenarios?
Which Jahia version and build number is used?
It is strange that you cannot increase PermGen space size for the JVM on a 64-bit machine. Could it be that you are using the 32-bit JDK version?

    Back to export/import.
Can you attach the log file during the import (any errors/warnings)?

Could you, please, try one simple scenario:
On a new server, create a new virtual site and upload several (also large documents). Check if they are uploaded correctly. Export the site and import it into the same Jahia instance. Does the import completes correctly?

Without the log files and configuration it is not so easy to troubleshoot the import problems :)

    Kind regards
    Sergiy

    Hi Sergiy,

Sorry for the lack of information but I've been trying all the import stuff last week so I don't have the log anymore. About the 32bit/64bit machine, the thing is that the customer is using a 32bit machine. We tried to reproduce their environment, so we wouldn't face any problem when he will try the import.

Anyway, right now our solution is to dump the database and then import it on the production environment, which works fine.

I will try different scenario when I'll have some more time because it is bothering me. I thought that I was doing something wrong but it does not appears so. I've already made some site import with less documents which were just working fine.

I'll come back when I have more info and hopefully good news.

    Thanks a lot.
    Marc.

    Hi guys,

Finally i've found a way to make it work. When importing the whole site directly from the home page and not from the administration panel everything works fine.

I didn't try again from the administration panel because it takes to much time.

    Cheers,
    Marc.

    Hello,

It seems that importing a site from the home page does not solve the problem. I just did an import of my whole site and, again, everything is imported except for all the files.

However this time I've found the only stacktrace on the log that seems related to the problem :

    [code:34zrb8z8]
    2010-08-04 13/1 29 more
    [/code:34zrb8z8]

The Jahia version I'm using is ANDROMEDA r29690.

    Cheers,
    Marc.
