DOCTYPE error in IE10 (7,8,9)

by  arshadmohd »  2014/01/08 13:44

I'm trying to render a page in IE10 but the browser throws an error saying that Its an invalid doctype.

Error Message :

HTML1524: Invalid DOCTYPE. The shortest valid doctype is "<!DOCTYPE html>".
home.html, line 1 character 1

The main Jahia start page gets rendered properly with the same doctype but my custom page doesnt get rendred.

The doctype statement of the document which is not getting rendered.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">

The doctype statement of the document which is getting rendered.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html  xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">

In above two statements there is literally no difference expect a space before xmlns in the third line.

I need to know why this non-uniformity is present while creating a doctype in jahia and also how can I handle this.

Also please let me know how to change the doctype declaration in jahia.

    Did you try that in other browser aside from IE10.

    Hello,

    is it reported as an error? On my side IE11 reports it as a warning, but does not prevent page rendering.

    Which Jahia version this is hapenning with?

    Is it on some particular pages or on any Jahia page (including Jahia Administration)?

    Kind regards

    Sergiy
