Deploy as an WAR and JNDI Resource

by  minimike »  2011/06/07 18:50

Hi there

I'm new on Jahia. Today I've taken a look about it. I've three questions.

On our environment we have RHEL6 which will ships tomcat 6 with there RPM's. So we don't like tomcat as an thirdpartie app and I'm asking me now what I've to do for deploy. If I compile Jahia from source could I define a WAR file as an target. The dependencies are only the JAR's in $TOMCAT_HOME/lib? Do I've to define something else in some config files?

Can Jahia connect to an JNDI Databaseresource from Tomcat? The same for LDAP, we are using the 389 directory server.

We are using a PostgreSQL 9 Cluster for Databases. PostgreSQL 9 is supported?

kind regards
Darko Hojnik

Hello Darko,

could you please specify which Jahia version/edition and build number are you about to deploy?

Kind regards
Sergiy

On first we wanna only the OpenSource Edition. My costumer wants OpenSource Software only. Later after the development and some months ago I think it will be not a problem to buy commercial support.
We also have taken a look on Liferay and Gatein. Liferay is powerful but it will be maybe to much work to customize it for an nice enduser experience. Gatein works only from SVN with the OpenJDK 6 shipped from Redhat.

    Hello Sergiy,

    I've tried Jahia 6.5 Beta :)

Hmm don't know now, but currently it smells my currently very little project could be bigger then I though first. So I've switched for testing proposes from Tomcat to Jboss 5.1.

Is there an target for maven to create an EAR? The new configuration could be:

RHEL6 IBM JDK, Jboss 5,1 and Jahia as one of some more apps
Debian 6 with an PostgreSQL 9 Server

However at last we would like to develop some web stuff for Openstack, I think it would published as OpenSource if we are finished next year.

    Hello Darko,

Jahia 6.5 Enterprise Edition (targeted at large projects) is supporting the following as the target application servers:

    [list:1nake7uv]
    [*:1nake7uv]Apache Tomcat 6.0.x[/*:1nake7uv]
    [*:1nake7uv]IBM WebSphere 6.1[/*:1nake7uv]
    [*:1nake7uv]Oracle WebgLogic 11g (10.3.3)[/*:1nake7uv]
    [*:1nake7uv]Red Hat JBoss 4.2.x/4.3.x[/*:1nake7uv]
    [/list:u:1nake7uv]

After running the installer you get pre-configured artifacts to be deployed on a particular application server.

    Kind regards
    Sergiy
