Adding an area to a column in a page template

by  helenv »  2014/06/09 11:15

In your video DF7 A funtional overview you create a template with a 4 col layout then add an area to each column and either restrict or not the content.  When creating the 4 col layout do you HAVE to then add an area to each column? If so for what purpose? If you don't what are the consequences.  I don't see the point of creating an area that is 'any content' when you can add 'any content' to the column directly.

Hello, this is the case because you might you column to stay empty. Also 'areas' are configurable and by default you can add 'any content' but you can also restrict the content that can be added in the area by editing it.

    Regards,
