Jahia the Open Source Web Content Management (WCM) for high-end deployments

Built-in Personalized MyPortal-Type Page

Many intranets and even some personalized extranets are now offering personalized pages à la iGoogle or NetVibes. Such pages are often used as an information dashboard to gather various web initiatives under a single umbrella, automatically curate content according to the user profile, and act as a source of business intelligence.

Jahia treats any micro-application as any other static content item and can render any of them on any page. You can easily stack several micro-applications on the same page. By extension Jahia can also be used to create personalized web areas composed of dozens of different applications. Jahia provides a complete iGoogle-like system to manage each user's personal settings (e.g, position of each mashup on the screen) combined with an AJAX interface (e.g, drag'n drop your mashup on the page), with a built-in mashup selector to let end users personalize their dashboard with the most relevant mashups.

One of Jahia's key strengths is that mashups can also come directly from the WCM and display content natively stored in the Jahia content repository. So end users can mix their WCM content and their micro-applications on the same personalized information dashboard page with a common web experience.

Drag'n Drop Capabilities and Personalization

  • Jahia delivers out of the box an AJAX-based "MyPortal" page with an AJAX-based drag'n drop feature, minimize and maximize options and other easy access to each portlet settings panel.
  • Each MyPortal page can be personalized by each end-user.
  • The webmaster can programmatically access to the unified mashup manager in order to develop a custom portlet selection user interface. By default Jahia is provided with an iGoogle-inspired portlet selection system.
