Open Source and Open Standard Driven
The development of Jahia products and underlying technologies is driven mainly by adhering to open source practices and guided by respecting open standards. The entire boy of Jahia technology is available under the OSI-approved GPL. Jahia also tries to incorporate as many open standards as possible.
Some open standards supported by Jahia are:
- JSR168 / JSR 286: portlets API
- JSR170 / JSR 283: Java content repository
- OpenSocial
- OpenSearch
Some open source libraries come pre-packaged with Jahia
- Dozens of Apache libraries (Apache Jackrabbit, etc.)

Jahia: a Java-based open-source WCM
Jahia itself is fully available under the OSI-approved GPL. Please check the two different distributions below and choose the one most appropriate for your needs. In all cases, the source code is available on both editions. Only the source code for some proprietary extensions developed by third-party software vendors (e.g, some of the enterprise connectors) is not available.
