Built-In File Management: Sufficient for Most Uses
Why acquire a WCM and couple it with another expensive and complex back-end ECM system if you need to manage only a few thousand of documents? Many WCM scenarios (simple brochureware web sites; microsites, etc.) do not require the presence of a more complex enterprise content management (ECM) or document management systems (DMS). A more lightweight solution, which already offers 80% of the core features for no extra integration work or licensing fee, is perfectly adequate.
Built-In Standardized Document Management System
- Benefit from a robust, state-of-the art, standardized JCR (Java content repository) to manage all your documents.
- Enjoy access to a full built-in, fully AJAXed file manager
- Manage your document metadata (categories, keywords, etc.) from within Jahia
- Automatically extract the internal document properties in order to populate the DMS metadata
- Leverage our advanced file searching and filtering capabilities
-
Use the built-in rules engine to automate actions on your documents (i.e., automatically convert a document to PDF and move it to another directory)
- Leverage dedicated user workspaces

Heavily-Coupled WCM and DMS
- Reuse any binary document on any page of your site
- Upload, rename, move or simply select a file from within the context of your page.
- Built-in file consistency checks: move or rename documents without risking to get 404 errors on your published pages.
- Immediately know where each binary document is published on your various sites.
|
Dynamic Saved Searches
|
- Editors can perform some advanced search queries on their binary documents and save such queries for later reuse.
|
Rights Management
|
|
- Editors are able to precisely define and grant permissions on folders or documents.
If the document is used on a web page, the system automatically checks the permission consistency between your document and the permissions set up on the various web pages to avoid possible errors (e.g., a restricted document being made available on a web page made visible tor any anonymous end-user).
Document permissions are also checked and applied on any search results.

WebDAV Interface
- The embedded Jahia DMS is compliant with the WebDAV standard. This means that you can display and access your Jahia document repository as if it were on one of your company's shared network drives.
- Most applications (e.g.,MS Office) also now natively support the WebDAV protocol. So you can directly edit or save a document in Jahia without having to leave your applications.
